SUMMARY:
Perform patient and prescriber education, patient counseling, drug information and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Omnibus Reconciliation Act (OBRA) counseling as defined by the OBRA 1990 mandate. Responsibilities include drug counseling, drug profiling, and drug utilization review. Pharmacist answers questions from patients through telephone on medications such as when to consume, drug interactions, side effects, etc.
Assist Customer Service Representatives (CSR's) with patient inquiries on status of mail service prescriptions.
Verify prescription inquiries regarding mail in prescription program from patients through telephone via computer imaging. Computer imaging allows the Pharmacist to view the actual prescription written by the doctor for quantity of drug, refills, directions, etc.
Applies technical knowledge to assist CSR's with pharmacy practice issues.
Assist with corrective actions as associated with quality and accuracy.
Assist CSR's with new prescriptions and refills through mail in prescription program.
May be required to work overtime to support the needs of business.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree and current state license to practice Pharmacy.
Experience: One to three years experience within retail/community practice setting preferred .
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to uphold strict confidentiality of customer and employee records; excellent written, verbal and telephone communication skills; ability to effectively negotiate. Computer skills within a Windows environment.
